Brown, Ardron & Company
Revel Brown (the name was more usually spelled as Revill) was listed in 1787 as an inkpot maker at the picturesquely named Truelove’s Gutter. By 1797, he was an inkstand maker and dealer in hardware at the same location (now known as Castle Street). Brown was next joined as a factor and manufacturer by John Wright, Samuel Cocker, James Battie, and John Ardron (the latter was presumably the grocer listed in 1787 at Truelove’s Gutter).
