William Kent (bapt.1784-1851) was the son of Joshua (a scissorsmith) and his wife, Martha. William followed his father’s trade and was listed in a directory in 1818 at Silver Street. In 1821, two scissorsmiths were listed under that name – one at Coalpit Lane, the other at Backfields. By 1825, William Kent’s address was Carver Street, where he was a scissors and silversmiths’ shears manufacturer. He died in 1851, aged 66 (his burial was at St Paul’s on 1 April).His ....
