Joseph Wragg was born on 27 March 1835, the son of John Wragg (of Solly Street) and his wife, Harriet. In 1855, Joseph married Matilda Davy (1833-1876). By 1871, Joseph manufactured ‘all kinds of spring knives’ from Crescent Works in Carver Street. By 1876, he was at Globe Cutlery Works in Carver Street, where in 1881 he employed ten men, three boys, and a woman. The business ended after 1884. Joseph became a cutlery manager – possibly for his son, David Davy Wragg. Joseph Wragg, Brunswick Street, died on 27 June 1908, aged 74, and was buried in the family grave in the General Cemetery.
