This firm should not be confused with Wingfield, Rowbotham & Co. Both appeared in directories in the 1920s, but apparently were separate concerns.
Wingfield Rowbotham, cutlery manufacturer, appeared in the late 1920s in Eyre Street. A decade later the address was 36 Howard Street. In 1950, an advertisement in The Ironmonger Diary described Rowbotham as a manufacturer of a variety of cutlery: tableware, butchers’ and sheath knives, and paint and putty knives.
The firm was listed as late as 1972, but then apparently ceased trading.
