Two references have been found to Arthur Parkin: an entry in White's 1911 Sheffield Directory at 151 Arundel Street (Table-knife Hafter) and in the 1911 Census at 209 Arundel Street (Table Knife Cutler). It is not clear if these both refer to the same person.
Arthur Parkin was listed at 84 Charles Street manufacturing table knives in Kelly's Directory of the Engineering, Hardware & Metal Trades, 1934.
The 1939 General Register lists Arthur Parkin as a Cutlery Maker living with his son, Leslie, a Butcher Slaughter Man, at 61 Thompson Road. Arthur died, 23 December 1960; probate for his estate, valued at £7671, was granted to his son Leslie, now a Master Butcher and Henry Staniforth.
We have no example of his knives in our Collection. If you have any information, please share it with us via enquiries@hawleytoolcollection.com.
