J. W. & T. Marsh was listed from 1816 as a factor and manufacturer of pen, pocket, and table knives, in Cricket Inn Lane, Park. By the mid-1820s, the enterprise had become Thomas & William Marsh (or W. & T. Marsh). By 1834, Thomas was running the business alone. Thomas Marsh, ‘cutler’, was buried on 11 January 1838, aged 50, in St Peter’s churchyard.
