Leggett was the son of Frank, a file hardener in Attercliffe, and his wife, Mary Ann. Both held managerial positions by 1911: Danks in a cutlery works; and Leggett in a cutlery warehouse. By 1937, Danks & Leggett’s address was Sykes Works, Milton Street. The firm continued to trade after the Second World War but was wound up in 1950. George Frederick Leggett, Hunter’s House Road, died on 11 June 1954, aged 84. He left £1,328. Charles Edward Danks, Brookhouse Hill, died at Wharncliffe Hospital on 13 December 1958, aged 86. His estate was £532.
