Lomas was listed in 1856 as a merchant and table knife, file, and steel manufacturer in Solly Street; the owner resided in Brookhill. (Walker & Lomas, Victoria Street, listed in 1854 may be a forerunner.) In 1860, Lomas advertised a range of products that included butchers’, cooks’, and palette knives. The trade mark was thunderbolts and the word ‘ELECTRIC.’ In the Census (1871), Lomas was a 49 year-old table knife manufacturer, living in Lawson Road. But his company was not listed by 1883. He apparently died at Whitham Road, Broomhill, on 14 April 1901, aged 80. He was buried in Fulwood.
