Samuel Lewis Goorney was a naturalised Russian Jew, who settled with his wife, Ethel née Finestone, at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. He became a wallpaper draper and wallpaper dealer. Their son, Jacob (Jack) Goorney (1901-1964) was born at Worsksop. In 1926, he married Pearl Baker. Before the War, they lived at Kenbourne Road, and Jack was a commercial traveller and driver salesman. By the 1950s, they operated F. A. M. Co Ltd, Cornwall Works, Scotland Street. The firm (trade mark ‘FAMCO’) specialised in flatware, hand-soldered knives and forks, table cutlery, and hunting and sheath knives. Jack died on 13 July 1964, aged 62: Pearl on 8 April 1984 (leaving £40,000). They were buried at Ecclesfield Jewish Cemetery.
