In 1865, Fisher & Brennan advertised from Paternoster Works, Paternoster Row, as a maker of electro-plated and Britannia metal goods. The principals were Thomas Fisher and Dominic Brennan. Establishing their identity is difficult. Presumably, Dominic Brennan was the 26-year-old metal smith enumerated in the Census in 1861 in Nag’s Head Yard, Park. He had been born in Ireland and was living with his widowed mother, Mary. Thomas Fisher may have been the 28-year old electro-silver plater, living in 1861 in Pomona Street. He had been born in South Leverton, Nottinghamshire. Certainly, Fisher & Brennan was short-lived. In 1867, the house in Paternoster Row (No. 25) was offered for sale, ‘fitted up with fixtures and gas, suitable for carrying on the above or any other business’ (Sheffield Independent, 5 November 1867).
