The English Steel Corporation Ltd (ESC) was formed in 1928 after a merger of two arms, shipbuilding, and engineering conglomerates: Cammell-Laird Ltd and Vickers Armstrong Ltd. These companies had their origins in Sheffield in the early nineteenth century.
The ESC used the trade mark ‘IMMACULATE’ on its stainless steel from about 1930. But it was not involved in cutlery manufacture. Any knives so marked would have been made in limited numbers for ESC by other makers and used for marketing purposes.
If you have any information about the knife or the maker, please share it with us via enquiries@hawleytoolcollection.com
