William Chapman (c.1820-1889) was born in Clayworth, Nottinghamshire. He was living in Beet Street, Sheffield, by 1851, when he was working as a razor manufacturer. In 1859, he advertised from nearby Edward Street. By 1868, he was operating a beerhouse, besides making razors. Later listings gave his occupation as razor setter or razor hafter. He died at Alderson Road on 30 September 1889, aged 69. He left £158 and was survived by his widow, Elizabeth.
