C. H. Beatson & Sons,...">
Frederick Beatson’s name appeared in the early 1930s, as a partner in C. H. Beatson & Sons, silver cutlery handle manufacturers. Apparently, Frederick Beatson (1899-1976) and Charles Henry Beatson (1909-1966) were brothers – the sons of Charles Henry Beatson (1880-1950). In 1939, they formed Beatson Bros & Co Ltd, Continental Works, 68 Headford Street, for the manufacture of aircraft parts. It apparently operated during the Second World War. After 1945, F. Beatson continued alone as a silver-handle maker at Headford Street. In 1952, when it advertised in International Cutler, Frederick Beatson & Sons became ‘Ltd’ (capital £3,000) under Frederick (Sen.) and F. C. (Jun.) Beatson. In 1977, when the Headford Street premises were demolished, the interests were merged into Beatson Drake. The latter was part of Nickel Blanks. F. Beatson’s records (1945-1976) were deposited at Sheffield Archives. Amongst the records were those pertaining to Percy Osborne & Son Ltd, which occupied part of 68 Headford Street.
