George W. Boddington was born on 8 November 1904, the son of Willie Boddington (a spring knife cutler) and his wife, Annie Jane. In 1934, he married Mary Elizabeth Mosley. In 1939, when they were living at Bedale Road, George was a spring knife cutler; Mary was a spoon and fork buffer. Photographs of George W. Boddington can be viewed on PictureSheffield.com, alongside a few scraps of biographical information (courtesy of a relative, John Gregory). Later in his career, Boddington apparently was an outworker for firms such as W. G. Ibberson and Harrison Fisher & Co. He was one of a small team of little mesters, probably at Beehive Works, Milton Street. He can also be seen at work making spring knives in C. A. Turner, A Sheffield Heritage (1978)1. George W. Boddington, of Margate Drive, died on 21 June 1975, leaving £6,972.
