Henry George Hall (c.1816-1855) was enumerated in the Census (1841) as a ‘merchant’, living with his wife Mary and with John Broadhead and his wife. Broadhead was a scissors manufacturer and the two formed a partnership (Broadhead & Hall). By 1845, Hall was trading as Henry George Hall & Co, a pen, pocket, and table knife manufacturer, based first at Washington Works (see George Wostenholm) and then in Norfolk Lane. Hall experienced financial problems, despite the help of his brother Charles (Sheffield Independent, 24 December 1853). In 1852, Hall was listed as a cutlery merchant, Union Lane. He died at his home in Hanover Square on 25 February 1855, aged 39. He was buried in the General Cemetery.
