George Gouldthorp (c.1819-1883) – or Gouldthorpe, as the name was sometimes spelled – was a table knife manufacturer. He may have been the George Gouldthorp enumerated in the Census (1841), living with 47-year-old Mary Goldthorp in Division Street. No occupation was listed, but in later Census schedules he was a table knife hafter and (in 1871) also a beer house keeper. In the directory (1879), he was listed as a table knife manufacturer, who lived and worked in Rockingham Street. His wife was Eleanor. George died on 2 April 1883, aged 64, and was buried in City Road Cemetery.
