John Trickett may have been the son of Henry (a grinder) and his wife, Sarah. If so, he was born on 16 February 1833. His early life is obscure (he was apparently living with another family in Broad Lane in 1841), but in 1859 he advertised cast table cutlery and children’s fancy knives and forks at Central Works, 100 West Street. He worked in West Street until his death on 11 September 1868, aged 35. He was buried in the General Cemetery.
