Baines, Cattell & Co Ltd was registered in 1919 as a private limited company, with £10,000 capital, by Thomas Alfred Edward Cattell (1881-1969) and Harry Baines. The address was Carver Street. At the British Industries Fair (1922), they displayed table cutlery (stainless and ordinary), meat carvers, fish eaters, and cased sets. The address was Export Works, Suffolk Road. By the late 1930s, the firm had an office in Chippinghouse Road (a residential street). The trade marks were ‘BAINCO’ and ‘PEDIGREE’ – the latter also used by Thos. Turner (a subsidiary of Viners).
