Charles Williamson and his wife, Fra...">
Walter Williamson was born in Sheffield in about 1841, the son of Charles Williamson and his wife, Frances. Like his brother Samuel, he began work in his father’s warehouse. By 1871, he was a partner in Williamson & Sons, table knife manufacturers, in Arundel Lane. He lived in Alexandra Road, Heeley. He was involved in Williamson Bros, Sydney Works, Matilda Street, which operated briefly after his father’s death until 1877. In subsequent directories and the Census Walter is described variously as a cutlery manager and table knife cutler. Walter Williamson, cutler, Springwood Road died (aged 65) on 21 January 1907. He was buried in the General Cemetery, leaving £205. His son, Walter, appears to have continued the family tradition of manufacturing table knives until the 1920s.
