This firm was ‘successor’ to George Siddall. The owner was Charles Franklin Ward (1853-1921), who was born in Handsworth, the son of George Ward (a cattle dealer) and his wife, Ann. In 1881, he was an unemployed merchant’s clerk, but by the end of that decade was a partner in Isaac Ellis. In about 1895, he acquired the assets of Siddall and in that year advertised in The Foreign Buyers’ Catalogue from Brocco Cutlery Works, Solly Street. Pen, pocket and table cutlery were Ward’s staples, alongside various trade knives. Presumably, the products were factored. In about 1911, the business became C. F. Ward & Son. It was not listed after the First World War, however. Ward died on 23 November 1921 in Station Road, Handsworth. He was aged 68 and left £2,441.
