Yates Bros manufactured caps, ferrules, and cutlery handles and was apparently launched in 1898. Yates Bros registered a silver mark (J.Y) in 1900 from No. 8 Court, Sarah Street, Brookhill. The brothers were Albert Edward Yates and Joseph Yates, who were the sons of William Yates. By 1900, the address was Backfields. By the First World War, Yates Bros had moved to Nimrod Works in Eldon Street, where it was located until the 1940s. In the following decade, the firm was in Rockingham Street. In the 1960s, Yates Bros was listed at Nimrod Works, Trinity Street. In 2011, a web-based retailer using that name was in business as a cutlery component and giftware supplier at Nimrod Cutlery Works, Trinity Street.
