Samuel Winterbottom (c.1801-1868) was a bone haft and scale cutter, who plied his trade in Little Pond Street. He was listed in 1833 and by 1851 employed four men. He later lived in Cemetery Road and died there on 8 August 1868, aged 67. He was buried in the unconsecrated section of the General Cemetery, leaving under £1,500. His son, Samuel, had died on 13 August 1864, aged 21. His widow, Mary, died in 1885, aged 84.
