George Warrington was born in Liverpool in about 1813. By 1841, he was living in Garden Street, Sheffield, and working as a journeyman brass turner. According to a later advertisement (1859), he had founded his business in about 1838. He eventually specialised in table and butchers’ steels (for sharpening) and silver/brass ferrules and caps. In 1861, he employed four men. He died in Watery Street on 26 February 1868, aged 55, leaving £2,000.
