Joseph Parkin was Master Cutler in 1814. He had purchased his Freedom in 1801. Leader (1905-6)1 highlighted that numerous Parkins were listed in the records of the Company of Cutlers and suggested that Joseph was a factor, who lived in Pitsmoor after 1821. Joseph Parkin, merchant, was listed in a directory (1822) in Pitsmoor. (A Joseph Parkin was also involved with Staniforth, Parkin & Co, but a link has not been confirmed.) Between 1828 and 1833, Joseph Parkin was a merchant, factor, and manufacturer in Norfolk Lane. His house was in Doncaster in 1833. He died on 27 August 1839 (age not stated) at Boulogne, where he had moved for his health (Sheffield Independent, 28 September 1839).
