This firm, which was based at the junction of Woodbourn Road and Cricket Inn Road, was registered in 1924. It was capitalised at £1,000 and claimed to be an iron, steel, file, knife, edge tool, spoon, plate, holloware, cutlery, and saw manufacturer; and steel converter and refiner, forger, and roller. However, its premises were modest and although the firm was involved in blade forging and hand grinding, its other activities must have been as a merchant. The directors were George Henry Crawshaw, Frederick Cawrey, and T. Powell. Crawshaw and Powell had earlier been involved with Cutlery Components Ltd (founded in 1922 at Shrewsbury Road, with £1,000 capital). Presumably this was the forerunner of Majestic, which had a more impressive name. However, Majestic failed in 1933, when the firm was unable to pay its rent. A ‘dismantling sale’ was held of its power hammers, annealing furnace, and drop stamps (Sheffield Independent, 15 April 1933).
