Albert Wilson was born on 4 February 1836, the son of Charles, a razor smith of George Street, and his wife, Sarah. Albert followed his father’s trade and became a master razor hafter. In the early 1870s, he briefly partnered George Ibberson. When that was dissolved, Albert operated his own business, which was eventually based in Bowden Street. In 1881, Albert employed one man and a boy, and he was later partnered by his son, Frederick. An advertisement in The Foreign Buyer’s Catalogue (1895) depicted Wilson’s trade marks – ‘SANS RIVAL’ and a child with outstretched arms. Albert Wilson died in Vincent Road on 6 January 1911, aged 74, and was buried in the General Cemetery. He left £1,537. The firm continued under Frederick until after the First World War, but apparently ceased trading in the 1920s.
