Hoppe & Company
This cutlery merchant was listed in 1893 at 12 Times Buildings, Bow Street. No information has been found on the owners, but the Hoppe name was well-known in Solingen as a sword maker and cutler. The firm had a London office by 1905, but the Sheffield sales office was closed by 1910. Hoppe & Co, Westmoreland Buildings, Aldersgate Street, London EC, cutlery factors and ‘enemies’, was wound up in 1916 by government order. The trade mark was the word ‘CAELTON’.
