The partners of this fork manufacturer were Jonathan Hawksworth (bapt.1798-1862) and Thomas Tivey (bapt.1809-1874). Jonathan had been born in Sheffield, the son of Joseph (a joiner) and his wife, Hannah. Thomas was born at Melbourne, Derbyshire, the son of George and Sarah, and baptised at a Baptist chapel. By 1841, Thomas Tivey was a spoon caster, living at Spring Street, with his wife Ann (and also with Jonathan and Hannah Hawksworth). Jonathan was a fork maker. In the early 1850s, Thomas and Jonathan began trading as fork manufacturers at Hawley Croft. They dissolved their partnership in 1860. Jonathan Hawksworth & Co (‘late Tivey’) continued to trade as a fork manufacturer at Hawley Croft. However, Jonathan died on 27 April 1862, aged 63. His unconsecrated burial was in the General Cemetery, in a grave occupied by members of the Tivey family. Thomas Tivey, a metal caster, died at Pyebank on 6 June 1874, aged 65. His burial in the General Cemetery was also unconsecrated (though in a different grave to his former partner).
