Frederick Henry Hattersley.&...">
John Hattersley was born in Sheffield in 1860 and was probably the son of Frederick Henry Hattersley. He advertised in Pawson & Brailsford’s Illustrated Guide (1889) as a manufacturer of fine scissors, horse clipping and surgical scissors, Albion Works, Cadman Lane, Norfolk Street. The firm was listed there until 1911, with John living in Kenbourne Road. In 1919, John Hattersley & Co, scissors manufacturer, was in Rockingham Street; but Hattersley & Spooner, scissors manufacturer, was also listed at Pool Works, Burgess Street. John Hattersley, Tom Lane, was a partner in the latter firm, which was active into the 1920s in Bath Street. John Hattersley may have been the individual of that name, who died in Trap Lane, Bents Green, on 3 January 1938, aged 78, leaving £1,014.
