When Roberts, Doré & Hall opened a Sheffield branch in about 1910, William Henry Hall was a partner. According to the Census (1911), he lived at Meadow Head, Norton Woodseats, and was aged 32. He eventually launched his own business and was listed in Cambridge Street in 1919, when he had started electro-plating (Matheau-Raven, 19971). However, he was bankrupt in 1926, when he was described as a commercial traveller, Upper Valley Road, and lately an electro-plate manufacturer at Granville Works, Hollis Croft (where he was in business with his father). He had debts of £737 (Sheffield Daily Telegraph, 15 July 1926). His subsequent biography has been difficult to trace.
