Albert Sinclair Fairest (1884-1972) was born in Sheffield. He was the son of Henry Fairest – variously described in the Census as a ‘gilder of razor scales’ and a ‘gold blocker’ – and his wife, Hannah. By 1919, Henry was listed as a gilder in Fitzwilliam Street. Albert became a pearl fluter. When he set up his own business is unknown, but in 1939 he described himself as a cutler. After the Second World War, he was a manufacturer of fish carvers and eaters at the back of Carver Street. Albert S. Fairest died on 31 December 1972, aged 88, at Lodge Moor Hospital. He was buried at Abbey Lane Cemetery, leaving £8,997. His firm was still listed. It was incorporated in 1993, when it became part of Nickel Blanks.
