Enos Dewsnap (1816-1910) was trained as a razor smith – the same job as his father, Thomas. In 1841, he lived with parents and his brother (Charles) in Trippet Lane. Enos joined the Mechanics’ Institution, which awarded him a prize in 1836. In 1845, he married at East Parade Chapel, Leeds, Mary Lucy Harrison (the daughter of an Oakham solicitor). In that year, Enos advertised as a razor manufacturer and dealer in cutlery materials in Bow Street. An infant daughter, Henrietta, died in 1846; a son, Robert Sedgwick, was born in the following year. However, Enos left for America in 1848. He was naturalised at Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1854; and in the following year married Helen Mary Hoole (1826-1900). He settled in Shelburne Falls – a cutlery centre – in Massachusetts, where he eventually became a cutlery dealer. Mary Lucy Dewsnap remained in England and in 1851 was living in Leeds, with her son, Robert. She apparently died in 1859. Enos died at Buckland on 24 March 1910, aged 93. A Civil War veteran, he was buried at Arms Cemetery, Shelburne Falls (as was Sleigh Rowland). His son, Robert, died at Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1877, aged 29.
