The partners were George Cutts (1818-1881) and John Oldale Cutts (1822-1866). Their parents were Joseph Cutts, a silver plater, and Elizabeth. Cutts Bros made electro-plate and Britannia metal wares. In 1854, the first location was in St Mary’s Road; by 1856, the address was Penzance Works, Pond Street. The partnership was dissolved in 1857, when George Cutts started his own business. Cutts Bros continued under John O. Cutts and advertised in Pawson & Brailsford’s Illustrated Guide (1862). In the following year, however, the business was bankrupt. John O. Cutts, silver plater, Milton Street, died in Milton Street on 15 January 1866 (aged 43). He was buried in the General Cemetery. His sons, Joseph (15) and Albert Edmund (3), both died on 25 September in the same year as their father. Their mother, Hephzibah, died in 1900, aged 76.
