Burdall & Burdall, Anchor Works, Gibraltar Street, was originally a chemists and druggists, but became famous for its gravy salts. Herbert Moses Burdall (1898-1964) and Herbert Alonza Burdall incorporated Burdall’s Ltd in 1930, with £75,000 capital. In 1932, it occupied Hillsborough Barracks (Burdall’s Buildings). The company registered the mark ‘TELL-TALE’ for use on safety razors (Whitham & Sykes, 19531).
