Henry Wilkinson was listed as a manufacturer of silver and plated goods in South Street, Park, in 1828. Between 1831 and 1836, he partnered John Roberts (1798-1888), a silversmith and plater, who was his son-in-law. They registered a silver mark in 1831. Roberts later launched the business that became Martin, Hall; but some obscurity surrounds the subsequent activities of Henry Wilkinson. In 1833, a silver-plater of that name was listed in Low Street, Park. Thereafter, a firm named Wilkinson & Co appeared in the directory (1839) at Park Steam Wheel (Sheaf Street) and Broad Street, Park. But its relationship (if any) with the ‘Wilkinson’ of Wilkinson & Roberts or the Britannia metal smith Henry Wilkinson is not known. Henry Wilkinson’s later life has not been traced.
