George Stacey, cutler, died on 13 September 1832. The Sheffield Independent, 15 September 1832, recorded that: ‘He was one of those who have been the means of bringing the Sheffield trade to its present state of perfection, and had been in the employment of Messrs Rodgers and Sons, cutlers to their Majesties, during the last seventeen years. He was the person who made the large knife presented to his late Majesty, George IV, and as a general workman his equal was not to be found’.
