Thomas Royston (c.1830-1911) was apparently living in Wadsley (his birthplace) in 1841, with Thomas Smith (a pocket knife cutler) and his wife, Elizabeth. Thomas was a spring knife cutler journeyman in 1851 in Common Side, living with his sisters and brothers. He advertised in the directory (1856). He married Elizabeth Mary née Rollin (1836-1906). In 1871, he was also a shopkeeper on the Penistone Road. In the Census, he was enumerated as a spring knife cutler in Ecclesfield (1881, 1891) and Crookesmoor Road (1901). He apparently died in Sheffield in 1911, aged 81.
