This company was formed in 1984 by Vic Rickless, a former accountant at Richards Bros, who acquired the rights to the name of his old firm, besides Wm. Rodgers (owned by John Clarke), Joseph Rodgers & Sons, and George Wostenholm. It was reported that he had transferred ‘enough plant and machinery to meet requirements across to his lean and highly cost-effective manufacturing operations in Garden Street’ (Sheffield Weekly Gazette, 3 October 1985). Meteor employed 47 workers. However, by the end of 1985 the business had foundered and the famous marks of William Rodgers, Joseph Rodgers, and Wostenholm had passed to Egginton.
