Charles Lingard (1820-1889) was the son of Joseph (a cutler) and Jane. The Census and directories show that Lingard was first a scissors forger, and then a manufacture of scissors and spring knives in Henry Street. He operated Caloon Works and sold cutlery in New York through his son, Charles Jun. Bowie and spring knives made by Charles Lingard were stamped ‘FAITH’ – a mark later used by Lilleyman. Charles died at Birley Carr, Wadsley Bridge, on 30 May 1889. His unconsecrated burial was in the General Cemetery. He left £455.
