Edwin Jenkins was a spring knife cutler, who was enumerated in the Census (1841) in Garden Street. His parents were John, a pen knife cutler, and Mary. He had an elder brother, Charles, with whom he was in business in Burgess Street by the end of the 1840s. In the Census (1851), the Jenkins’ family was living in a dwelling in Garden Street. Charles was a spring knife cutlery master, employing eight men. By 1861, Edwin apparently operated alone at 92 Carver Street and employed three men. Edwin was last listed in a directory in 1868. He died at Artizan View, Heeley, on 26 March 1869, aged 51. He left under £200. His brother Charles died on 11 March 1873 at a hospital on West Street, aged 59. They are buried in the General Cemetery.
