Leslie Gandy (1908-1959) was the second son of Willis Gandy, a table knife forger, and his wife Mary Emma, nee Furniss. Leslie married Edith Solway at the Cemetery Road Baptist Church in Sheffield in 1934. By 1939 they were living in Robertshaw Street and Leslie was a cutlery foreman.
According to his grandson, Richard Sherwood, he went on to found the Cambridge Cutlery & Tool Company, which he ran until his death in 1959. His wife, Edith (1912-2008) continued running the business until her son, Brian Gandy (b1945) was old enough to get involved.
Brian Gandy's children, Charlotte and Edward Gandy now run Crown Hand Tools, based in Darnall, Sheffield. Their website states that they have been "proudly manufacturing traditional woodworking hand tools for over fifty years".
