George Edward Morland St Clair was born in 1861 in Bootle, Liverpool. He was the son of George Edward St Clair, a commission agent, and his wife, Sarah Morland. By 1881, he was living at Masbrough, near Rotherham, and working as a pawnbroker’s assistant. In 1887, he advertised in a Sheffield directory as a cutlery manufacturer at Charles Street Works. In 1888, he was bankrupt. His subsequent life is untraced.
