Edgar Warner (1858-1896) was a Londoner, the son of Arthur Warner (a metal merchant) and his wife, Lydia. Edgar and his brothers – Arthur, Herbert, and Percy – developed interests in Middlesbrough iron. By the late 1880s, Edgar, Herbert, and Percy had moved to Sheffield. An attempt to trade in machine-knives at Continental Works, Milton Street, ended in 1890. But Edgar continued at Milton Street as a cutlery manufacturer until his death on 9 September 1896 (leaving £3,910). The firm moved to Crown Cutlery Works, Mary Street, under John Thomas Wilde (1856-1925). It became ‘Ltd’ in 1924 (capital £5,000), but was liquidated in 1927.
