This enterprise was a cutlery merchant, with an office at 25 Hatton Garden, London, EC1. It was apparently founded in about 1960 to market stainless cutlery and silver and EPNS ware to hotels, restaurants, and the general catering trade. No information has been found on Sheldon’s owners.
In 1979, Kimride Ltd took over the Sheldon name, but in the following year Kimride filed for bankruptcy. Sheldon Cutlery continued as a trading entity (apparently as part of Chinacraft Ltd). It is likely that Sheldon’s cutlery – once sourced from Sheffield – was by later imported from the Far East.
Sheldon Cutlery Co Ltd ceased trading in about 2010 and was struck off the register in 2016.
