We believe that this company was started by Douglas Eugene Moore, born 1896 in Doncaster, the son of Harry Moore, a Music Teacher and Frances Moore. The 1911 census lists the family living at 29 Nether Hall Road, Doncaster. Douglas, aged 15, was employed as a Boy Clerk working at the Great North Railway.
Douglas married Mary Anne Scholey (the daughter of a Farmer) in July 1921; his profession was then an Insight Correspondent (i.e. a journalist).
The 1939 Register includes Douglas as a Cutlery Manufacturer (engaged in Government Contracts) and his wife a Bookkeeper, in Cutlery Manufacture, living at 26 Steade Road. Douglas died in 1967, aged 71, living in Hastings.
