J. G. Forster & Co was apparently listed only once as a cutlery manufacturer in a Sheffield directory: that was in 1925, when its address was 38-40 (back of) Leicester Street.
The partners were John Baker Forster (1892-1959) and George Adamson Norman Forster (1895-1976). They had been born at Newsham, Northumberland, the sons of John Forster (a station master) and Mary née Adamson.
John Baker was trained as a metallurgist. Their careers as cutlery ‘manufacturers’ proved short-lived. The brothers emigrated to Sydney, Australia (John Baker in 1928). Both died there: John on 9 November 1959, aged 67 (he was buried at Macquarie Park Cemetery); and George on 8 September 1976.
