In the Company of Cutlers’ Register of Marks (1919, 1953) ‘BARCLAY BROTHERS, SHEFFIELD’ was listed as a trade mark owned by Needham Brothers Ltd, spring knife and electro-plate manufacturers. So presumably this stainless table knife was made by Needham Bros. However, this leaves a mystery: the identity of Barclay Bros. That name did not appear in Sheffield directories. One explanation is that it derived from the Barclay brothers, who were associated with The Hallamshire Silversmiths’ Co.
