Incorporated in 1949, this firm was based in St Mary’s Road and was first described as a drop stamper. Confusingly, this was the same address as The Rockingham Plate & Cutlery Co Ltd (see J. H. Potter), though they were apparently separate entities.
Rockingham Plate Ltd was managed by Frank Tomlinson, who registered a cutlery ‘improvement’ in 1957. The firm manufactured electro-plated and stainless table cutlery, flatware, and scissors. Its trade marks – ‘CRUSADE’, ‘ROCKINGHAM’, and ‘MORBRO’ – were apparently acquired from other firms (Crusade, J. H. Potter, and Morbro). In 1952, a previous Crusade cutlery advertisement was simply recycled with the addition of the name ‘Rockingham Plate Ltd’. In the 1960s, the company moved to Australian Works, Malinda Street. It was dissolved in 2004.
