William Yates (1843-1913) was the son of William Yates and Amelia née Egginton. His mother was related to the Eggintons, who were involved in brass turning and silver ferrule manufacture in Broad Lane and Hollis Croft. William Yates Jun. became a manufacturer of silver ferrules for table knives. In 1876, he acquired premises in Rockingham Street and two years registered a silver mark (WY).
