Vander was a distinguished name in the silver trade in London, where it had been launched by Cornelius Joshua Vander in 1886 (Culme, 1987). In 1930, it became a limited company in Fetter Lane, dealing in silver and antiques, such as Sheffield Plate. In the 1930s and 1940s, Vander’s began to rely upon Sheffield for volume production.
